London, England – The Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) organization continues to underline its status as the most popular combat sport in the world with a rapid-fire sell-out of the brand new O2 arena in Dublin, Ireland.
 
In the UFC’s fastest sell-out thus far in Europe, over 6000 tickets were sold within a week of going on sale on October 20 and, less than two weeks later, all 10,000 tickets for the fully-scaled O2 were gone.

announced it has launched into the video on demand (VOD) spectrum of entertainment with Verizon FiOS TV.

The service consists of a triple-tiered offering of three distinct services, with UFC Free Zone, UFC Fight Zone and UFC Event Zone:

UFC Free Zone is an on-demand free service offering informative and entertaining short features on mixed martial arts rules, fighting disciplines, styles and techniques. The highly popular Countdown UFC shows and UFC event previews are also available via UFC Free Zone.

UFC Fight Zone offers single UFC library fights in their entirety, at $2.99 per fight with a 24-hour viewing period. The special live UFC® fight card will raise funds to build a hospital for traumatic brain injuries for the brave men and women in the United States Armed Forces. Thousands of soldiers from nearby Fort Bragg, the proud home of the U.S. Airborne and Special Operations Forces, will be in attendance.

New York, NY, September 17, 2008 – The Ultimate Fighting Championship® and Spike TV have joined forces to present “UFC Fight For The Troops™”, a special three-hour live televised event on Wednesday, December 10 starting at 9:00 PM, ET to raise funds to build a treatment center for the brave men and women in the United States Armed Forces who have experienced traumatic brain injuries. The facility is being sponsored, built and equipped by the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. The announcement was made today by Dana White, UFC President and Kevin Kay, Spike TV President.

The goal of “UFC Fight For The Troops” is to raise the necessary funds for The National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), an advanced research facility in Bethseda, MD dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of military personnel and veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury (TBI) and psychological health issues.

Las Vegas, NV (USA) — UFC® middleweight champion Anderson Silva, arguably the best mixed martial arts fighter in the world, pound-for-pound, will move up in weight class for the first time when he jumps from middleweight to light heavyweight to fight James “The Sandman” Irvin (14-4-1) on Saturday, July 19 at The Pearl at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

Silva will square off against the hard-hitting Irvin, who knocked out Houston Alexander in a record-tying eight seconds this past April. Silva vs. Irvin will air LIVE - for the first time ever - on the East and West coast on Spike TV. The fight will be seen at 9:00pm ET and 6:00pm PT, free on Spike TV.
